2016 SUMMER SOLSTICE FILM FESTIVAL

2016 Summer Solstice Film Festival

On June 18th, from 4pm to midnight, Habitable Spaces will host its second annual Summer Film Festival at their farm in Kingsbury, Texas. This year the event is curated by San Antonio artist Ethel Shipton, and features Mike Stephen, Kallie Pfriffer, Justin Korver, Jonathan Sims, and Chris Sauter among many others. Visitors will be given a map of the farm, and they will be invited on a scavenger hunt of sorts, as they traverse the farm and the forest around it to discover short artist made films in viewing spaces that are hanging from trees, installed in chicken coops, and hidden in tool sheds and pizza ovens. During the day, children and adults alike can participate by creating spin art with artist Katie Pell, paint hip hop murals with San Antonio’s own Universal Style School and wander the farm in search of video gems. There will be food vendors, and drinks available for purchase. Come on out to the farm, bring a tent and camp, explore the grounds, or loll about in a hammock in the main field while watching feature length art films. Habitable Spaces is located at 3050 FM 1104, Kingsbury, TX, 78638. Take exit 620 off of I-10, or turn onto 1104 from hwy 90.

This event is made possible through a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.
